Co-Worker's Not-So-Candid Quotes
"I don't think there's anything positive I could say about Audacia that wouldn't be echoed by basically everyone on staff. She does all sorts of thankless jobs with flair and a smile, and she's a vital wheel that keeps the gears turning backstage. She's an enormous asset to the CE team and great to hang out with at Cons!"
"The girl needs to take a vacation! She's been a wonderful addition to GMland, and is so reliable and helpful, whether those asking are new little baby GMs or those who have been around longer than she has!"
"Audacia is like an octopus. No, more like 3, with the number of things she does at once. She's amazing!"
"Audacia is a pleasure to work with. Professional, personal and organized all in one. When working with Audacia, I know the job is going to get done right on the first pass."
"Audacia is amazingly organized -- she can stay on top of dozens of different issues at once and makes it look easy all the while. Whether it's training new recruits, meetings or anything in between, you can count on her to be there with a smile to lend a hand."
"Audacia could have her own TV show called "Everybody loves Audacia.""
"Miss Organized! Audacia is so organized; she manages to cut through all the red-tape as if she was wielding a hacksaw! I have worked with her on a few things and she is always professional, follows up and gets the job done."
"Audacia brings an upbeat energy to everything she does in game. When you need someone to help you out she willingly takes on yet one more task on top of the many many other things she has going on already."
"Just picture a cyclone on amphetamines."
"This girl is our workaholic with a smile. She does what she says she is going to do and is our meteoric GameMaster. While workaholic can sometimes also mean roughshod, this is the exact opposite of Audacia. She has a loving and caring personality and gives 200% of herself while she achieves so much for DragonRealms as well as holding down a tough day job. Audacia is our Wonder Woman. "
"Her drive and desire to help in so many areas is exhausting to even watch, let alone do, but she manages it all with a smile and a smooch!"
"I have a recurring nightmare where I check my email and find that I've only been imagining she exists, and that I'm in charge of everything she does. Right after that, I snap under the pressure, climb a tower and start shooting players. I sometimes tell people that my job description can be summed up easily: "make Audacia look good." Which leaves me with very little to do, because she doesn't need my help."
"I've known Audacia for years, while we were both hosts, and then as she went on to GM-land with me following later on. She has always been a delight to work with, a real master of everything CE. During my training, I knew I could turn to her with any questions or concerns I had, and that she would lend her ear and help in anyway she could. She's a trooper with a lot on her plate, and always willing to offer her assistance on other projects."
"Audacia's name really fits her to a 'T', she is audacious and outgoing and her enthusiasm is infectious! "
"I think every trainee in my class had a macro set up to go to Audacia's office, and that was before she had anything to do with training. Audacia was just there for us. She always had solid advice and she was willing to go to bat for trainee or a young GM."
"Don't tell her, but Audacia is one of my favorite people. Her sense of humor mixed with her inspiring zeal for her work makes her a real asset as a member of our team."
"One of the most amazing, dedicated people I've ever worked with."
I have been playing the game since 2001-ish, spending the majority of my years in Plat. After a while, I realized that helping people in the game was really what I loved the most, so in 2006 I joined the GameHost team and WOW, was that fun!! I complained about the fact that I was limited on how many shifts I could do, and they told me that if I became a GM I could do as many as I wanted. It had honestly never occurred to me to apply for GM, but I found that I did love doing shifts (except for the "getting in trouble for doing too many" part) so I applied!
I was lucky enough to get hired for the Shifts team and since I am weird and like paperwork (I think I missed my calling as a secretary) I also got to be the Admin as well. Over time, my weird workaholic-ness came out and I jumped into several more roles and really found that I can't get enough. So long story short, I am the Shifts lead as well as Hiring Specialist, member of the GM Training Team, Admin, Prydaen team co-advocate and Temporary Ranger Advocate. Temporary because I really do have a lot of responsibilities in DR that I am unwilling to give up but really wanted the opportunity to help out my favorite guild, at least until I find someone more suitable to take it over!
Overall, I absolutely feel honored to be a part of this awesome team of GMs up here and enjoy every minute up here. What cool people we get to work with, and man have I learned a lot! Much of what I do is behind the scenes, but its very rewarding seeing everything fall into place down the line and having had the opportunity to help contribute to what I think is the most unique and enjoyable game out there.
Where were you born?
Washington State, in a hospital. I don't remember it much. It rained so much in Washington that it rusted my hair so I moved to Texas.
Where do you currently live?
Do you have any pets/kids/both?
I have 4 cats, a dog and a horse. I prefer my kids to be the sort that I can kiss on the nose, pat on the rump and lock in a stall for the night :-P
What is your current occupation?
Horsetrainer. (I am honestly a shameless nerd who [sort of] pretends to be a redneck by day.)
What did you want to be while you were growing up?
Either a horse trainer or a lawyer. I ended up with horses because I can argue with them all day, and usually win!
Favorite TV shows?
I actually don't watch TV (like, I don't even have a single channel), but I watch a lot of movies. I recently discovered Firefly, I would have watched that. Why did they stop it?!! Oh and I LOVE Little House on the Prairie and Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. And Gilligan's Island. Do they still count?
Nicolas Cage, Heath Ledger, Kiera Knightly, Liv Tyler, Johnny Depp
Pat Green, John Cougar Mellancamp, Rihanna, The Young Dublinners, Loreena McKennet, Katy Perry, Counting Crows, Kid Rock, Blue Man Group
I love the Xanth series, and most anything by Piers Anthony. I recently got addicted to the new author, Patrick Rothfuss, he needs to hurry up and finish the second book! I love Robert Jordan and Raymond Feist. I can't help it though, I intersperse my cool Fantasy books with wonderfully decadent romance novels by Nora Roberts, Kathleen Woodiwiss or the good old fashioned classicsPride and Prejiduce or Princess Bride.
Where did you go to college and what did you study?
I didn't! I just went straight to the barn and never left. Oops!
Favorite/least favorite job you've ever had?
My favorite job is doing what I am doing - training Arabian Show horses. Least favorite was retail - I did it for about a month at a tack/feed shop. Wow that was boring, anyone who does that long term has the patience of a saint!
Endurance racing, LARP (Amtgard), reading, Writing, camping, Ren Faires, hiking and dancing.
Pancakes and lobster. Probably not at the same time though.
Favorite board games or computer games?
Other than DR? I like WoW on the computer, and Settlers of Catan, Curses and Pinochle.
Favorite sports/sports teams?
Not really a sports fan, but I'd pick baseball if I had to choose one. Though I did enjoy the live hockey game I went to!
What would you do with a million dollars?
OMG, well since I probably couldn't afford to buy Simutronics :-( -- I'd start my own training farm!
What three people past or present would you invite to dinner?
Piers Anthony, Ben Franklin and Tim Burton (He must be so wonderfully weird)
What is your favorite quote?
"Live today as you will wish you had lived when you are dying." I also like "Ride, like you've never been bucked off!"
Name something you'd like to do before you die.
I'd like to ride out into the wilderness for 3 weeks and live totally off the land. I also want to ride camels to see the pyramids in Egypt, stay in a real castle in Scotland and go hiking in Argentina. I also hear Key West is cool because there are CHICKENS everywhere!
What's your favorite acronym?
LOL!!! OK so that's boring and normal but to be honest, I probably say WTF!!! just as often - but thatís just because I think "Wild Tree Frogs" are really neato! ALMOST as cool as chickens.
If you could have any musical group or artist, past or present, play at your birthday party, who would it be?
The Beach Boys!!!! I always want to be happy and dance around when they sing.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I know this is too easy, but OH MY, what I wouldn't give to be able to read minds. How fun would that be! Just think of the possibilities.
And the Zobmondo question:
Would you rather...
Be lost where there are no street signs to point your way...
no people to ask for directions?
Street Signs!!! No people - I am always lost and as long as there are signs - eventually I'll find my way! Besides, I can't ASK someone for directions, geez! That would be cheating! Ideally though, there's internet somewhere and I can magically pull it up and voila! Unlost. If I'm on a horse, I just hope I chose a smart one who can get me home when it's hungry. The last one though apparently didn't like his barn :-(
