Curious About History and Lore?
Posted on 06/13/2012 08:27 AM CDT by Webstaff

You can brush up on your history by visiting local libraries, colleges, and various archives.  You can also meet up with other guildmates and explore the vast libraries of the Guilds around the realms, discovering untold stories of war and adventure that have been passed down through the ages.

If you feel your character has the ability to become a great writer, here's a few guidelines you can follow to begin your journey to publication:

While there is no maximum length, a prose book should be at least 1,000 words in length.  For poetic works, these rules don't often apply.  All work must be your own, original material.  No copyrighted material may be submitted.

All books must be both in-character and in-genre, meaning the subject matter should deal in themes that one would expect in a medieval, fantasy setting and be written from the standpoint of a person living within Elanthia.  Avoid any real-world references or mentions of other games.  Your work should respect the published histories in the game, or provide a very solid reason why they differ.

Submissions must use conventional grammar and spelling.  We will, of course, check for mistakes, but you stand a much better chance of being published if the book appears completely written.

These are just a few of the guidelines that will need to be followed for your writing.  If you have a sincere desire to contribute to the history of the realms, you can send further inquiries to  If you submitting any writing along with that, it should be in text format, pasted within the body of the email, and no file attachments.  Be sure your subject line reads: "Book Submission" and include the character who "wrote" the book.

May your quill be swift and mighty!
