Billing Server Reset - 10-8-2009

We are going to reset the Billing Server on Wednesday, October 7, at approximately 8:00 am Eastern. This will affect all game logins, the Play.Net website, and the forums. Emergency Firewall Maintenance

Data Migration - 1-21

The migration of the BBS and CyberStrike 2 to its new Server will happen on Wednesday January 21, at 11:00 AM Eastern. This process should take about 4 hours to complete. During this time the websites, forums, and CS2 will be unavailable, but players of the IFE games will be able to log in through the SGE.

Emergency ISP Maintenance

Our ISP has identified a serious issue with one or more network devices in our region. They will be performing emergency maintenance to apply a software patch.
During this time, our network services may be unavailable. This includes all games and forums.
This maintenance is scheduled to begin at 6:00PM CST today and should be completed by 9:00PM CST.
We certainly hope it will be finished sooner, however we don't really know what the problem is, so we're going by what they've told us.

ISP Maintenance - 7-29-2008

Out ISP has identified an issue with a network device that aggregates connections to customer locations in the Saint Louis area. The maintenance will clear an error that, if not addressed, could cause service related issues. This maintenance is scheduled to begin at 00:01 CDT on 07/29/08 and will be completed by 05:00 CDT on 07/29/08. In this window, SAVVIS engineers will be replacing defective hardware from a local backbone router. Customers may experience service outages, latency, or other connectivity issues as the work is completed.

Extended Maintenance Scheduled for 7-16-08

On Wednesday, July 16, our On-site Techs will be migrating the Billing Database over to their new servers, beginning at approximately 3:00 AM Eastern and ending at approximately 11:00 AM Eastern.
No new logins will be possible during this 8-hour time-period, however, any customers who are already logged in to any game should remain logged in, although some in-game services related to account status (i.e., checking Premium Time, for example) may be unavailable.
In addition, the entire website (including Forums, Account Services, etc.) will be down during this time.

Potential Connectivity Issues

Simutronics Maintenance June 12th

Simutronics will be conducting maintenance on a firewall on Thursday, June 12th at 7 AM Eastern. This maintenance will take approximately an hour and should be completed by 8 AM Eastern. During the maintenance, you will be unable to log into your game, the website or the forums.
If you are logged into the game already, you will be able to continue play uninterrupted during the maintenance. But you will be unable to re-enter the game if you exit.

This also means that while all games should be up and running, you will not be able to log in during that period and, if you get disconnected, you will not be able to return until this maintenance has been completed. If you are already logged into the game during this time period, you should not notice any issues and should not have any problems related to this situation.

AOL Email Difficulties

Simutronics.com and play.net domains are having an extremely difficult time sending email to aol.com addresses. We have been rate limited by AOL due to the amount of spam being delivered to those addresses. The email marked as spam is primarily coming from spammers who are taking advantage of the account@play.net program that we offer to our customers. This makes the spam appear to be coming from Simutronics.
We are taking additional aggressive steps to reduce the amount of spam, but as you are probably aware, the spammers are also taking aggressive steps to bypass checks used by anti-spam software.
At this point, we suggest changing your email address to something other than aol.com to continue to receive email from Simutronics or through your account@play.net. There are many free email sites available, such as Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail. There are also any number of smaller free email sites that you may choose.
We apologize for this situation. We are monitoring it closely and hope to have a better solution soon.
