a general request · on 7/7/2007 6:42:34 AM Generate a link to this post in a pop-up window. 2962
i'm posting here because of 2 reasons
a) because of the browsing habbits of the user, it's a dragonrealms player, most likely a player that plays an empath.
b) i have no other method to contact this player without getting them into trouble with their internet service provider (i don't want to cause DR players harm).

will the person that lives in this location please check their web browser to ensure it's properly set up?
Location: United States [City: Glens Falls, New York]
i'm getting a javascript inserted into the user agent section setting the location to a search engine instead of the page the person wanted. i already fixed my CGI to strip this out but please repair the web browser on your end.

one of the many entries for it looks like this:
069.205.025.126 - - [02/Jul/2007:11:06:52 -0400] "GET /DR_Scripts/ HTTP/1.1" 200 30875 User Agent --> "<SCRIPT>window.location='http://www.sirseek.com'</script> (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)" Remote IP --> 69.205.25.126

please note, i do NOT expect a response from this posting, just a note to the person at that location to check their browser.

Agatha Christie · on 9/16/2009 3:05:04 PM Generate a link to this post in a pop-up window. 3644
So my dad has been in the hospital for almost 2 months (he's gonna be fine, so no need for condolences). I was there about 13 hours a day for the first month cuz he was unconscious, on life support, and just in a verra verra bad way.

While I was there I discovered ebooks. For blackberry, I downloaded WATTPAD. It's not the sexiest platform, but it's free, the books are free, they download in about 10 seconds, font size and colors are totally adjustable, and it has a "scroll" option (so you can set a pace at which the page scrolls up as you read - which was a good way to keep me focused and kept my forward motion)

Till now I've never been a fan of mystery novels. But, if you want to read something incredibly fun, "light", full of adventure, and something that you will be really really pleased with, read the Poirot series by Agatha Christie.

Poirot is pronounced Pwah-row. His first name is Hercule, prounounced Air-Cue).

I'd seen a bunch of the movies (Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile, Evil Under the Sun) and loved them. Since I knew the endings to those mysteries I decided to read her first poirot novel, and a couple that are generally considered to be in her best works.

Here are my suggestions, having read just 5.

1. The Mysterious Affair at Styles
Her first Poirot novel. Introduces the character, etc. Great read.

2. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd
My favorite so far. All-time great ending...really. No, I mean it.

3. The ABC Murders
Generally considered a top-5 Poirot mystery.

They are a fast, fast read. And very satisfying.

<<its to depressing to read the newspapers or watch the news now days.>>

ya know it's funny, I agree wholeheartedly with this but i think its because the news orginizations believe that violence sells. I mean in the older days there would be bad news but it was often tempered with 'good ole america' types of stories. There is little manpower given these days to what i would call these types of wholesome stories and that is regrettable in my opinion, since it does a disservice to this great country which apart from a few loud crazies (as any country) is as local down home, help your neighbor, as anywhere. Don't really know where this rave came from just was there all the sudden.

Be Aware-Job Scams-let them rip you off for 5-30% · on 6/25/2007 7:42:23 PM Generate a link to this post in a pop-up window. 2936
Don't reply to any job opertunity that says they'll pay you 5-30% for cashing out of country, visa, travelers, mastercard, or cashiers cheques.

These are all scams and the cheques, every single one of them from 25$ - $50,000 or more are FAKE.

Some of the banks don't realize that counterfitting is an international crime, especially the first national bank of texas, Whom, when I asked what agency, (should of given me my local FBI office) I could take all the evidence I had to, said noone, putting themselves in the possition of accessory to counterfieting.

Be especially weary, and give any cheques that arrive to your nearest local FBI office and tell them you know they are part of the Nigre scam. All the companies will have you contact a lawyer or send money to Nigre via western Union.

Lets do our best to shut these counterfieters and con men down, before any more are errounously charged with attempt to pass fake cheques, when they are the victum of the con job.

Any lawyers are requested to see if we can set up a CAL against banks who charge the passee when they are nothing but helpful and truthful.

I hope the meat of this message is good enough to stay put, even if Someone has to repost it.

Walked out of the movie last night. Gargbage movie. .5 stars.

They employ the cheapest devices to get you upset - a population of blind women raped by a population of blind men that control the food in an institution - and yet there is no satisfactory resolution, revenge, it just leeaves all of the women in the audience feeling really, really, abused.

(Ever see Deathwish with Charles Bronson? Family raped and murdered in the beginning so he had good reason to spend the movie picking off badguys as a vigilante. They use that device, but it lasts the first 1.5 hours and there really isnt much revenge. also, its not nearly as good as Death Wish - which suuuuuuuucked)

made me want to browbeat julianne moore for doing the movie.

im just happy i had the testosterone to get up (with my X) and walk out. we looked back at the women in the audience and they were looking at us like they wanted to come but couldnt move their bodies.

Anyway its crap. dont waste your money. nothing here but cheap tricks and no payoff.

Thanks for the warning. I had wanted to go but I won't now. Brutal rape scenes aren't really my idea of entertainment.

Good for you for walking out. I hope you asked for your money back too, so the movie does really poorly.

>>Linux is so much of a pain :|

My experiances with Linux have been wonderful. I ran a game server for years on linux, in addition to my media tower for the TV running on Linux.

I managed to get Mac OS 8 on my notebook PC, but it had a hard time finding the drivers for sound/video. Other than that, its been alot of fun as well.

I tried Vista for two days on a tower I bought from a local shop. I returned the tower and ended up using the cash to buy new parts for my other towers.

Vista is worse than Windows ME, and that says alot. :(

I have to wonder if Christohper Paolini is or was a DR player. There are so many references/similarities in his book that make me believe he had to have spent some time here. I'm just now reading the third one and the main character Eragon just found a braided horsehair bracelet with amethysts. He had a falchion as his weapon for a time. His spells and enchantments seem similiar to some of ours. One of the other character's main weapon is a hammer...and on it goes. Just a thought while I was reading last night.....

>>I have to wonder if Christohper Paolini is or was a DR player. There are so many references/similarities in his book that make me believe he had to have spent some time here.

I'm not saying he hasn't played DR, but:

>>Eragon

Reminds me of Aragorn (Lord of the Rings)

>>a braided horsehair bracelet

Actually a fairly common item IRL.

>>with amethysts

Again, a common gem (and I'm not familiar with any braided horsehair bracelets with amethysts in DR).

>>He had a falchion

Common 11th-16th century European weapon

>>His spells and enchantments seem similiar to some of ours.

Specifics?

>>One of the other character's main weapon is a hammer

Again, hammers as weapons...not really just a DR thing.

Now, if a character named Lanvilal was wielding a Kartig-fist lata or something, I'd be a bit more convinced.

While I never thought he might actually play DR, I have though about how much DR would have to offer to a person like him. He absolutely loves creating his world. And I don't just mean the physcial setting but everything that goes insides there, people, races, background, etc. The plot in his books (much to my dismay) is tertiary to world creation and character development.

Brisingar could have been cut down by 50% and finished the story had he not gone overzealous and saved the extras for A History of Alagasia..
