I was hoping to start a discussion about the amunet and it's limitations but I would need to know why some decisions were made.

Anyone able to give us a reason why the amunet is restricted to one town and surrounding areas?

To me, the old black net was fun and lively. I would often just log on to idle and watch the amunet for entertainment. Nowadays, it is often silent and that is a sad sad loss for GS. Mainly because when people don't communicate, the game loses life. It loses that lively feel that a populated area should have.

What I would like to suggest is an extension of the amunet's reach. There is probably a reason why it hasn't already been expanded, so if someone is able and has the authority to explain why it's limited, maybe we as a player group could give you more ideas about why it should be allowed and why it would make the game a better place.

House Paupers gets into some lively conversations, and those thoughts are received all over Elanthia. MHO thoughts, too. Maybe just encourage friends to use those channels to communicate?

What about the custom amulets made in the Landing's field house? Aren't those world-wide but specific to everyone who wears them?

I might just be crazy and confusing information from another realm with this one, but...

I seem to remeber hearing somewhere that wearing a crystal amulet can be beneficial for something else other then just the ESP thought net.

Can anyone confirm that i'm not loosing my mind.

I don't know about benefits, but it does has a negative impact on attempts to disarm traps.

That penalty is being connected to a thought net in any way right? Sign of thought, sigil of... contact or whatnot.

I think these days only Volners have to wear the amulet.

And that's why I think I'd be aware if there was a benefit--as far as I know, there is no secondary use/benefit for a crystal amulet besides being able to rub it and connect to the thoughtnet.

You can use them to turn off the thought net.

You're assuming that people actually want to be on the amulet. :)
 (Although I was just reminded recently that Houses have their own private (and global) net, so I'll probably have to grab some pins to start chatting there.)
 

Please forgive me if I'm asking a question that has already been answered. I've read several pages back, and haven't seen any definitive solution, but I could have just missed it...

I've been gone from the lands for over 9 years, so I'm having to relearn everything, including the ESP network. The only thing that really has me confused at this point is the societal channel. When I attempt to use/view/etc the "society" channel, I receive the message that:

Confusing, since I am a master of a "certain" society, with full powers and all that jazz.

Am I missing something? Or am I just a dolt? hehe...

Do you have the amunet activated, either by amulet or society power, when you try to use the verbs?

And what verbs are you trying to use?

Use a separate thought window and you'll get them. Might need to use SF to get them (haven't used the Wizard since GS3!).

Yeah, right click the thoughts window and click SHOW TIMESTAMP. Not sure at the Wizard FE though.
