October 11, 2001:
On September 19th, the Simutronics Crisis Center received -- among hundreds of other status reports coming in -- a letter about the status of the player of the Bloodwrath character. The letter was supposedly from the widow of that individual, telling us that he and his father had perished in the World Trade Center during the September 11th tragedy. The crisis center confirmed that the Email address was the valid one that we had on record for the account, and posted the information that the player was lost. Since that date, the Crisis Center has received a variety of conflicting reports about the status of this individual, which cast doubt as to whether or not he perished. Law enforcement and the media are now involved in the investigation. An article appeared in the main Cleveland newspaper The Plain Dealer today, which you can read by going to this link: His Death a Fantasy, Says Game Player Simutronics will continue to assist the authorities in this investigation. If anyone else reading this has information about the case, you can contact us by writing to crisis@simutronics.com. Other thoughts and discussions can be posted in the Simutronics message boards, under "Losses to Our Community" (Note: you must be logged in to the play.net site in order to access the message boards). Our heartfelt sympathies continue to go out to everyone that has been affected by the events of September 11th. Simutronics Corporation
