Simutronics Introduces the Next Generation of DragonRealms

Popular Internet Game Expands with Introduction of the Maritime Province

Rockville, MD (January 25, 1999) – Simutronics (http://simutronics.com), the leader in multiplayer online games, today announced the debut of DragonRealms: The Maritime Expansion, which brings the most compelling online fantasy role-playing game to the high seas and can be found at http://dragonrealms.net.

“The introduction of DragonRealms: The Maritime Expansion is in response to the continuing popularity of DragonRealms,” explains David Whatley, president and CEO of Simutronics. “Since it’s release in 1995, more than 500,000 people have played DragonRealms and they want more! We’re confident that The Maritime Expansion will keep players, both new and old, enthralled for a long time to come.”

The centerpiece of DragonRealms: The Maritime Expansion is the fourth province of Elanthia and features new towns, cities, hunting areas and thousands of miles of ocean. With over 3,000 new game locations, the DragonRealms universe now encompasses more than 15,000 unique locations resulting in countless hours of exploration for players. Sailing, fishing, ship-to-ship combat and underwater hunting areas are all a part of the adventure in DragonRealms: The Maritime Expansion.

The new province will also introduce spells and characters that are distinct to the demands of life at sea. The new spells, like Calm Storm, Underwater Breathing and Raise Wind, will help prepare players for adventures at sea. Players will also come in contact with a vast array of non-player characters resulting in fierce battles with pirates or underwater attacks on nasty sea-monsters. Other noteworthy features of the new DragonRealms include the introduction of player-owned houses and player-controlled armor and weapon creation.

With its unique mentoring system, DragonRealms: The Maritime Expansion is a wonderful introduction to the world of online fantasy role-playing. According to Eric Slick, product manager of DragonRealms: The Maritime Expansion, “human mentors are always available to introduce new players to life in Elanthia and Simutronics’ Game Masters are online 24-hours a day to ensure fair gameplay. We are happy to do everything possible to make new players feel at home in our game community.”

DragonRealms: The Maritime Expansion is currently available and players can download the necessary software from http://dragonrealms.net. Subscriptions to the game are $9.95 per month but a 30-day free trial is available.
