World’s Largest Gathering of Online Gamers to Meet in St Louis

Simutronics Announces SimuCon 98

Rockville, MD (April 21, 1998) – Simutronics (http://simutronics.com), the leader in multi-player Internet games, announced today that the world’s largest online gamers convention, SimuCon 98, will take place in St Louis, Missouri from July 17th to July 19th.

SimuCon 98 will bring together more than 500 players of Simutronicsâ games from all over the world to enjoy a weekend of fun-filled events. SimuCon 98 is the third annual gathering of players organized by Simutronics. Michelle Montano, the convention’s coordinator, said, "we are expecting about twice the number of attendees at this year’s event compared to last year’s event."

"It’s a testament to the strong sense of community that our players feel in our games," stated David Whatley, President and CEO of Simutronics. "SimuCon gives our players a fun way to meet face-to-face. Last year we had a gentleman fly in from Thailand just to meet up with his online friends from GemStone IV."

SimuCon 98 begins with a costume gala and dinner party to kick-off the convention. A carnival luncheon on Saturday will continue the fun with games and entertainment, including jousting, fire-eaters, a dunking booth and wandering musicians. Additionally, a 24-hour hospitality suite equipped with computers and games will be available throughout the convention. Attendees will also be treated to a special, behind-the-scenes-tour of the Simutronics development offices as well as a full schedule of seminars.

The seminars will focus on Simutronics’ award-winning titles, including GemStone™ III, DragonRealms™, CyberStrikeâ , Modus Operandi™, Hercules and Xena: Alliance of Heroesä and a special sneak preview of the forthcoming Simutronics game CyberStrike 2. Attendees will be able to voice their opinions on a wide variety of topics, from the future plans for their favorite game, to strategy sessions, to sharing their gaming experiences.

Elonka Dunin, Simutronics’ General Manager of Online Games, commented, "SimuCon creates a wonderful atmosphere in which players share in shaping the future of their favorite games. We gain valuable feedback from our players during the seminars and have a great time just talking about the games."
