Alteration Guidelines
Depending on the wedding package you
choose, you and possibly others in your wedding party will be entitled to
alterations included in the cost of the wedding. The purpose of these items
is to make your wedding as special as possible and to give you a lasting
memento of your special day. While you are free to wear these items after
the wedding, they have been created for the express purpose of making your
wedding day memorable. They are not created for resale or to be given as
gifts (see exception under Alteration Requirements).
Weddings are offered to give you the opportunity to celebrate your union
with your life-mate, not to give you a chance to purchase alterations en
masse. Only the owner of the item (the person whom it was made for) will
be able to wear it or sell it.
This is the policy pertaining to wedding alterations:
Fees and Refunds
Fees
Each wedding package has a set fee to cover the wedding costs.
The Pende Plan has an additional fee should you chose to have extra attendants
in your wedding party. An attendant is any person in your wedding party
for which you would like to purchase alterations. An example could be an
extra attendant for the bride, one for the groom, and the priest or priestess
performing your ceremony. The choice is yours but you are limited to four
extra attendants that can receive alterations.
On the day you initially meet with your wedding coordinator (to start planning
your wedding), half of the wedding's cost will be due. The remaining half
is due the day of the wedding. Please let the wedding coordinator know whose
account you wish to have the fee taken from.
Refunds
Should the unthinkable happen and you decide to cancel your
wedding, there are two rules regarding refunds:
If you cancel enough in advance of the wedding date AND no alterations
have been made, then you are entitled to a refund of the fee you paid initially.
If you cancel within 2 weeks of the wedding date AND alterations have already
been made, then you will not be entitled to a refund. However, the bride
and groom will be given two alterations each (four total). The four items
you receive are your coordinator's choice.
Wedding Restrictions
Each couple is entitled to one wedding per year per account. What this means
is that if you have two or more characters on your game account and one gets
married, the other character(s) are not eligible for a wedding for one year.
If you have more than one game account, it is possible to have another wedding.
After one year has passed since your last wedding, you will be allowed
to remarry or renew your wedding vows.
If you schedule a wedding and then do not show up on the wedding day, it
does count against the one wedding per year per account rule. You will not
be eligible for another wedding for one year.
If you schedule a wedding twice and cancel it twice, then the one wedding
per year per account rule still applies. An example would be to schedule
a wedding and then cancel it. A few months later, you schedule the wedding
again and cancel it again. You will not be eligible for another wedding
for one year from the date of the second cancellation.
Wedding Timeline
While planning your wedding, there are certain timelines that you should keep
in mind.
Actual Wedding Date/Time: Before initially meeting with your wedding
coordinator, have a few dates and times selected. The earliest wedding date
you can select is 2 months after the date you initially meet with your coordinator.
For example, you meet with the coordinator on 15 January. The earliest you
could have your wedding is 15 March. This allows you and your coordinator
time to prepare for the wedding.
Alterations: A list of alterations is due to your coordinator no
later than 1 month before your wedding date. Your wedding date may be pushed
back to a later date if the alteration list is not received at least 1 month
in advance.
Invitations and Menus: You will normally receive your invitations
1 month before the wedding. Menu selections should be to your coordinator
no later than 1 month before the wedding.
Rehearsal: You and your wedding party are free to rehearse for your
wedding, on your own, as often as you like. If you wish to have a rehearsal
at the actual wedding location, then you will need to schedule an appointment
with your coordinator. A rehearsal in the wedding location will be allowed
from 1 week to 1 day before the wedding. Your coordinator will work with
you to set up a day and time for the rehearsal. There will be NO rehearsals
allowed in the wedding location on the day of the wedding.
Wedding Day: On the day of your wedding, please ensure all wedding
party members are in game at least 1 hour before the wedding's start time.
This will give members time to change into their wedding attire.
Resources for Alterations
The wedding couple MUST supply all gems, furs, metals, and animal parts. If
you wish, you may supply an item that contains these add-ons, but that item
will be destroyed in the process of salvaging the add-on. For example, if you
wish to add a diamond to your wedding band, you may either buy a diamond from
a gemshop or, if you have a teardrop diamond pendant, you may offer the pendant
to salvage the diamond, knowing that the pendant and anything associated with
it will be destroyed and unsalvageable. This also goes for special materials
such as silk, satin, velvet, etc. Torn scraps of these materials can be bundled
and offered for alteration purposes. Your wedding coordinator will let you
know what items will be required for your alterations.
You can also offer any clothing item you already own to be altered, including
auction items, as long as they are not changed from their original purpose
(i.e. you can't alter a scripted sack into a cloak). Fabrics, furs, pelts,
and animal parts can be dyed to reasonable colors (no neon green), but unless
precious metals are offered in the correct quantity, any color denoting
them will be adjusted accordingly (silvery, golden).
Your coordinator will supply the actual wedding bands, rings, armbands,
etc., in your choice of metal (as long as that metal exists in game) as
a wedding present to you and will add whatever gems you supply, as well
as an inscription if you wish. Note: Only the original band, ring,
armband, etc. will be supplied by your coordinator. An example of an original
item would be "a gold wedding band". If you wish to add a signet,
figures, etc. then you would supply the metal of your choice for that addition.
Gems must also be supplied by you.
Pockets (Pende
Plan Only)
For Premium Members that select the Pende Plan, you have the option of having
one of your alterations made into a pocketed item. Such a pocket will reflect
the common-sense size of a pocket found commonly on your item (i.e., you can't
fit a chest in a shirt pocket). Pockets will only be made in clothing, not
jewelry, and only in those articles of clothing that would be reasonably found
to have a pocket (not ribbons, for example). All pockets will be locked in
an open position regardless of a button, clasp, or hook on the item (meaning
you can't close it). Items considered clothing include cloaks, capes, boots,
hats, dresses, vests, sandals, pants, shirts, skirts, robes and any other item
that can reasonably be considered clothing.
A pocket will allow a certain amount of items to be placed into it and
considers the total weight that the pocket can hold. For example, you get
a pocketed hat made (and let's say it can hold one item weighing 5 pounds).
You have a ring that some distant relative gave you but it won't fit. Even
though the ring is one item, it may weigh more than the pocket allows. Pocket
size is based on the item it is placed on and cannot be adjusted.
Alteration Process
Every alteration you request goes through a Quality Control (QC) process before
you get your final items. QC ensures we are making items that are in-genre
(the correct time period), using the correct materials, colors, etc. If a gem,
metal, or material does not exist in game, you will not get an item made with
it. See the appropriate links for what is available.
Your wedding coordinator will do their best to keep you updated on alterations
that may need to be changed. Please do not take it personally if an alteration
you slaved over has to be changed. The coordinator and QC are just trying
to give you quality items that will make you shine on your special day.
Alteration Requirements
Depending on your wedding package, you may be entitled to have a certain
number of alterations. Please check to see what you are entitled to for
your specific package.
If you would like to have a wedding alteration
made as a gift for another member of the wedding party, just let your coordinator
know in advance (when you submit your alteration listing) so that they can
ensure the receiver of the gift can use the item. Some examples of allowable
gifts would be:
The bride's maid wants to use one of her alteration slots to
make a wedding gift for the bride.
The bride and groom want to make a special gift for each other
(must still be clothing or jewelry and does take up one
of their alteration slots).
These are allowable since the alterations are remaining within the wedding
party. You are limited to one gift item. For example, you are the best man
and have 5 alterations. Only one of those five alterations can be a gift
to someone else in the wedding party.
Items created by GMs will be CLOTHING OR JEWELRY ONLY; no weapons, armor,
or containers (backpacks, sacks) will be available, with the exception of
an invitation container.
The invitation container is limited to a sack or pouch choice only. The
only items the container will be able to hold are invitations. You can chose
the color for the invitation container.
The appearance description (when you TAP it) should be no longer
than 12 words.
The look description (when you EXAMine or SHOW it) should
be no longer than 25 words in length.
All alterations should be in good taste and suitable for a wedding ceremony.
The words "ceremonial", "ritual", and "Amazon" are
not allowed in the description of an item.
We are not allowed to put the name of players in the description of an
item. They can go in the inscriptions of wedding bands/rings.
If an item is donated for an alteration and already has a pocket, it does
not count as your pocketed item.
Wedding rings, bands, armbands, torcs, or whatever type of bonded item
you and your intended choose are part of the wedding package and do not
count as one of your alterations.
Your alterations cannot be described as if they are worn. For example:
a scarlet leather skirt that wraps snuggly around the hips and waist. The
reason for this is that once you take off the skirt, it would no longer
wrap snuggly but would retain that description when it's not being worn.
No coding will be done for wedding items and no scripts will be added.
If an item is given to us with a script already attached it will stay attached.
All party members' alterations should have a similar look and/or feel.
- For example: the Maid of Honor and the bride's other
attendants should all have similar items. If one has a flower
circlet made then the others will also have flower circlets.
The SHOW can be different on each circlet but the TAP will
be identical.
- Some exceptions will be made due to race restrictions
with clothing items.
Items with designs on them must make sense and be able to fit on the item.
These will only be allowed in the SHOW description.
Initials, letters, and words will be placed in the SHOW part of
the alteration. Some of these may be placed in the inscription part if they
qualify.
Alterations will not glow, pulsate, vibrate, shake, rattle, etc. unless
there's a really good reason for it based in the item's actual qualities.
For example: velvet has a natural sheen to it.
During the planning process, your coordinator will do their best to notify
you of any required changes to your alterations. Wedding members do not
receive their alterations until the day of the wedding.
