Finding Your Way

There are many things out there for you to discover. Arctic climes where Vikings and trolls wage fierce battles for the control of small mountain villages, underground caverns where some ancient evil drove a weary group of settlers and left their grisly remains piled in the town square for all to see, the throne room where Hades and his lovely wife Persephone entertain visitors to their realm (whether they wanted to visit or not), beautiful scenic views from the heights of Delphi with Apollo's temple glowing in his glory... But if you don't know how to find it all, how are you going to get to see it?

One of the most common comments from new players is that they are lost when entering the game for the first time. They don't know where they are, and they don't know their way around. Exploring the world is part of the game, but we agree that it is really hard if you are totally lost from the moment you enter the game. That is why we have put in some special features to help you out.

We don't supply many maps with the documentation, and the ones we do supply are liable to become incomplete before we even post them. This is because we really don't have the time to keep them updated and because the GameMasters are always adding to our world. We suggest you peruse the player web sites to get a hold of any maps you may need.

An important command you should know about is the DIRECTION command. This command is usually abbreviated as DIR. If you type DIR by itself, you will see a list of places that are located in the quadrant of the city that you are currently in. If you want directions to places in other parts of the city, you have to go to the appropriate quadrant first. DIR can tell you how to get to the other quadrants.

To find one of the places on the list, type the DIR command followed by the name of the place, as it appears on the list. For example, DIR ARMORER. It will tell you the actual name of the place, where it is located, and it will give you directions to get there from where you are now.

Note, you must be OUTSIDE to use this command, it will not work in any buildings or shops. Also note, not everything in Athens is on the DIR list, so explore! There's a lot more out there to be seen.
