Steps
to Creating YOUR Character!
1
If
you have never created a character, go to step 2.
If you have already created a character and want
to delete it to start fresh, you will need to either
find a temple by typing the command DIR on
the streets of Athens and then typing RETIRE,
or you can log off by typing the command QUIT
and deleting the character through the
web site.
In the "Select Interface"
box, select whether you want to play with the Wizard
FE or eScape depending on your preference. (We don't recommend
Java for first-time users except as a last resort.)
5
Click the GO PLAY button
once.
6
The game will launch,
and you will automatically be placed in the Character
Manager to create your new character.
What to Do in the Character
Manager
Choose a Gender
Everyone has to be male or female. Type M or F,
and press enter. There is no difference in your character's
statistics or skills due to gender.
Choose a Name
This is the name that everyone is going to call you by
in the game! Some simple rules of picking names:
Avoid trying to pick names of actual Greek heroes and
heroines, or names of characters from movies and TV
shows and well known books.
Your name can be up to 15 letters long, but spaces,
numbers and punctuation are not allowed.
No two players can be named the same. If you pick
a name that someone else is already using, you will be asked
to pick something different.
Do not pick a name that contains obscene or inappropriate
language. If you enter the game with an obscene or inappropriate
name, you'll be asked to choose another name until you pick
one that is acceptable.
Once you have a name, you will be asked to confirm your choice.
This gives you a chance to consider your choice before you
go on.
The Titan Prometheus
will now come to greet you. He will aid you in making the
selections that will bring you into the world. To start off,
you'll pick the race your character will be!
Humans are physically
the weakest race, but they are more agile and are the
predominant species in civilized regions. You'll find humans
will be the most balanced all around characters.
Centaurs are stronger
than humans, but less agile. They have long been shunned
by the humans of Ancient Greece, so do not be surprised if
you have people dislike you for no apparent reason.
Giants are by far the
strongest race, but they are downright clumsy, and inhabitants
in the world react very poorly to them as they might to a
Centaur.
There are five professions to choose from, and each is uniquely
different from the other....
Warriors are fighters.
They tend to be rough and physical, and are masters of all
forms of fighting, with and without weapons.
Rogues
are a cavalier lot. They are masters of stealth, and acrobatic
maneuvers and specialize in mechanical skills like picking
locks and setting traps.
Storytellers have a
great command of arcane lore, and they have the specific
duty of observing and telling about the greatness of others.
They use their street-smarts and wits to get along.
Priests are the religious
leaders in the world. In exchange for their devotion,
the gods and goddesses empower them with magical powers and
abilities.
Alchemists are specialists
that create powerful potions and devices. They are not
very good fighters at all, but their concoctions make them
formidable in their own right.
Aligning yourself to a god won't affect your primary skills
or statistics, but there may be other things you run across
that are directly related to the deity you choose. Remember:
each god and goddess has his or her own private agenda. You
should be sure to choose the god or goddess you feel most comfortable
with for your character.
Prometheus will now ask you to select all the factors about
your appearance. These selections will not affect the abilities
or skills of your character, but they might affect how your
fellow players treat you. Use them to develop the look you
want to have for your character!
Go Forth Into Life!
It is a good idea at this point to view the results of
the choices you have made. If you don't like the character
you have built, you can start the process over again. When you
are satisfied with your character, select the option to Go
Forth Into Life.
Set the Level of Help You Need
For first-time players and long-time pros alike, we
strongly recommend you select "Tons of help".
If you select this level of help, then when you step into
the game you will be given an automated tour that will show
you how to do some of the basic things you need to know about.
This tour will teach you many of the basic commands you need
to know to play, and it will give you some information about
the game world. There are also a few surprises and when else
are you going to be able to turn day to night with the flick
of a switch?
And that's it! Go have some fun!
